Energy Efficiency in Crested Butte

Our Bed and Breakfast
Energy Conservation

Way up in the Colorado Rocky Mountains it gets cold during the winter,
so at The Elizabeth Anne Bed and Breakfast, we do our best to
MINIMIZE ENERGY CONSUMPTION
In the following ways...

--100% of our electricity is offset to wind power

--The Elizabeth Anne Bed and Breakfast is a "gold" certified participant in the Crested Butte Energy Wise Business Program. You can check out The Office for Resource Efficiency of Crested Butte, Colorado at resourceefficiency.org

--The Elizabeth Anne is a panel-built house, meaning we have very good R-value leading to very good thermal and sound insulation (for three nights in January 2007, the gas was shut off to the entire town of Crested Butte. With overnight lows of -37 degrees all three nights, our house only got down to 60 degrees!)

--We have in-floor heating with a gypcrete thermal mass, which retains heat during our Crested Butte winters.

--We use compact flourescent light bulbs in the entire Bed and Breakfast.

--Our appliances are all E-Star rated.

--We use cold water with all of our laundry, saving energy that would be used for hot water. We also air dry our laundry so that the drier gets used less.

--Towels and sheets are changed upon guest request, this conserves water and puts less detergent into the environment.

--The Elizabeth Anne B&B recycles all recycleable products.
Energy Efficiency is not only good for the environment, it saves us money during our winter months. This photo was taken of The Elizabeth Anne Bed and Breakfast, buried after a large storm. To see where you could save some money, Click here to check out our Crested Butte Bed & Breakfast specials.
